Are you starting to get the gardening itch? With the cold weather starting to leave many states gardening care is becoming a huge topic right now.
If you don’t have snow on the ground gardening care can be started today. You will want to start with some of the basics to prepare your garden for the up coming planting season. Some simple things to accomplish; removing any litter, this may be items that have blown into your garden, plastic bags, little bits of paper. Don’t forget to clear out those sticks. Leaves can be left and mixed into the soil, they will break down and provide extra nutrients for your soil.
It is important to try and provide as many nutrients for your soon to be planted vegetables. A great way to give your garden a good boost is to start a compost pile. You will want an area that isn’t to far form your garden. If you want to coral your compost, you can make a simple catch all, just take chicken wire and some bamboo sticks. Create a circle with the wire, then simple weave the sticks down along the sides and push into the ground. You are ready to dump all of the wonderful stuff you can into it. Remember though you can only put the following into the compost; coffee grounds, egg shells, vegetables and vegetable peels, fruit, fruit peels. Anything that can be grown can go into the compost. You might want to steer clear of putting weeds in your compost, this can cause problems later on. You can also put grass clippings, leaves and soil.
When you put new items into your compost you will want to mix things around, this will help the older items to mulch a lot faster. There are bins that can be found on the world wide web as well as your local gardening shops that will help you with all of your gardening care needs.
