London weekend breaks always seem like such a fabulous plan – to leave behind habits and habitats, experiencing something brand new; perhaps listen to something unique. But without an aim, weekends away can repeatedly fall somewhat flat, a case of trekking around an enormous town, periodically popping into shops & looking at statues. This could be satisfactory if you are content to go with the flow, although if you favour being busy & ‘doing’ something then West End theatre show breaks can be an excellent option.
Even though you can always fly to Germany, why would you wish to? As there is heaps of talent & fun far nearer to home in the City. Notably, the Capital hosts a large range of magnificent theatres, the majority of which can be found clustered in or around the West End – a place in which day to day life seems to become a little more rosy & all things turns out well at the end of the day; or at least if not, you can get misplaced in enjoyable moments & feel somewhat a better human being.
Although for lavish, cheerful amusement during a London theatre break most people see musicals. These can be anything from the heart-wrenching disaster for instance Les Misérables to the rollerblading pleasure that is Starlight Express. But fans of rock & roll, doo-wap and boys and girls in extraordinarily tight leather will only be concerned about one selection – Grease. Taking the world by storm in the nineteen-seventies, this illustrious musical has under no circumstances ceased to make an impression on the public, transferring with consummate ease to the big screen. Including a lovely John Travolta and a very skinny Olivia Newton-John, the motion picture went on to be chosen for an Oscar. A great deal of people will have a small space in their heart set aside for Grease, no matter how old you are, or indeed what gender. Its one of those inspiring movies that is enjoyed by many generations; likewise the London musical show is interesting for all age groups. The ease and energy of Rydell High is contagious, the late nineteen-fifties garments are so desirably retro, and the music numbers are so contagious that you will be singing in your seats.
