Graduation Gown
Graduation gown, also known as academical or academic regalia, is an academic dress that is worn mainly during academic settings such as primary, secondary or tertiary education by students who have been admitted to diplomas or degrees. During ancient times, the gown was worn daily. However, these days it is worn only during academic ceremonies. In some countries, members of learned institutions and societies wear the gown as an official dress. The modern graduation gown worn during graduation ceremonies traces its origin to the early eras of religious learning societies and scientific research centers.
Traditional colleges adopted a style of gown similar to the modern colleges and the simple black gown remained the dress standard during the early years. However, with modernization came variations in the gown t worn by students in institutions of learning. One type of graduation gown is the deluxe style doctoral gown. This gown is available in black velvet or blue velvet. The gown feature full bell sleeves and pocket sleeves that allow for extra fabric and easy access. The other type of gown is the middle school gown. This gown is made from high quality material.
