Amazon River Surfing

Posted on Tuesday 14 April 2009

Each year there is a tide that comes up the Amazon River that creates a wave that can be surfed on. There are videos out on the web that show this phenomenon and are very fun and enjoyable to watch. The thing to watch out for on this adventure is the crocodiles and piranha fish, also the snakes. It is one thing when you are in the ocean and there is a possibility of a shark taking an interest in you, but this is at a whole different level. The boat is what takes you out to this place so you don’t have to worry to much about these things, there is also the option of the jet ski that can allow for non-stop stand up and totally eliminate any worry about the dangers.

It is neat how the wave can break for such a long time, the legs of these people who surf on this might turn out to get real tired unless they are in excellent health and physically fit. It helps if they exercise and train for this, take health supplements and eat nutritious foods every day. Surfing this river is so different than anything else in the world, and for the hand full of people who have done this they have great pride and joy for accomplishing this. Look for this to really grow in the future because of the uniqueness and dangers. It would be oh so cool to have a big blown up picture of doing a massive cut back while surfing the Amazon River. Your friend would ask you where that shot was taken, and you could reply with a smile “somewhere deep in the forest”.
